Blah, blah, blog.

Yes, I’ve created a blog. Yes, I am aware that this has the potential to increase my douchebag factor tenfold. No, I will not be  making a trip to the store to buy the obligatory plaid scarf, keds and ray-bans. Or getting a twitter. And I’m definitely not becoming vegan, mostly because life would be so much worse without bacon. I guess I should introduce myself… is that what you do on these things? As I’m sure anyone who is reading this already knows, my name is Alyssa. I’ve spent all of my 22 years living in Southern California, and I recently completed my undergraduate education this past June. Are you bored yet?

I really like to travel, and that is what this blog will be about. Navigating around new places, living out of a suitcase, meeting interesting people, attempting to speak different languages, eating exciting food… I like it all, even the occasional parasite that comes as part of the package. I pent four short months studying abroad in Paris, a few weeks of vacation in countries like Ecuador, Costa Rica, Argentina, Thailand, Greece and Italy, and only days in cities like Saint Malo, Amsterdam, Dublin and Brussels. The only significant amount of time I’ve spent in the blogosphere (that’s right, I said it) prior to this experiment is when I was researching travel blogs about whatever destination was next on my agenda. I don’t know what a widget is, I don’t claim to be any type of expert, and I wasn’t an English major, but I’d like to share what I learn on my adventures, in the hopes that it will not only entertain you, but also with the hope that it will give my mother peace of mind.

So, here goes nothing. Three.. Two.. One…

  1. Nicely done, the reluctant blogger, friend of the fringe. Well written. I look forward to reading about some of your travels regardless.

  2. Deena

    Let’s hear about Dublin.
